Collect Hours

I'm not a star. I don't wanna be a star. I don't have a great name, the media have never heard of me. No public, no cheerleaders. It's not about winning or losing, it's about reaching your limits. Going as far as you can go and then going far of them. I don't collect titles, I collect hours, hours of hard work, hours of pain. As just me, I'm playing for the ultimate victory, the victory of yourself.

This is a way of life, there's no finish line, becoming the best that you can be, there's nothing else that matters. Beating the odds, fulfilling your destiny. I don't wanna be a superstar, i want to be better than that, just want to be me, just wanna be ME. "

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR ??
JUST COLLECT HOURS

Key to life By Will Smith

Here is the lyrics :)

I’m gonna say something that I want you to remember for the rest of your lives, ok, I want you to listen closely. I’m giving you the key to life right now. The key to life, the key to life, is running and reading. Alright? Now listen, I’m very serious. The key to life is running and reading.

Alright, now, why running? When you’re running, when you’re out there and your running, there’s a little person who talks to you. And that little person says, “Agh, I’m tired. Ohhh, I’m so tired, there’s no way I can possibly continue.” And you want to quit. Right? That person–if you learn how to defeat that person when you’re running–you will learn how to not quit when things get hard in your life. Running–alright–that’s the first key to life.

I got this real psychotic thing about, like, perfection and working hard. And real young, I realized that the person who works the hardest wins. You know, it’s like, While other the other guy is sleeping, I’m workin’. The other guy is eating, I’m workin’. You know, the other guy is makin’ love…. I mean, I’m makin’ love…. but I’m workin’ you know, like hard at it!

Love what you do, and do what you love.

Reading! The reason that reading is so important: There have been millions and billions and zillions of people that have lived before all of us. There is no new problem that you could have–with your parents, with school, with a bully–there is no problem you could have that someone else hasn’t already solved, and wrote about it in a book.

So, the keys to life are running and reading. The person that works the hardest, wins.

Angreziwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge

A majority of us have a Inzamam-ul-Haq within us & it wants to become Harsha Bhogle. Mr Haq regularly asks :-
‘Karnaa chahataa hoon’ , ‘kartaa bhi hoon’ ; par hota nahin hai . ‘Kaisey karoon???’
In the last twelve years of my working as a Motivator / Coach ; if there is one fiery need that I have identified across School / College campuses in Asian countries- it is ‘How do I become ‘WOW’ in my spoken / written English’ ?

I wish this need were limited only to the students/ youth only. Unfortunately it is not. People in the corporate sector; at the end of my corporate trainings will silently / secretly want to get answered the same question.  :)
If you are interested to know the ‘Real Secret’ of ‘How you can develop a QATAL English in just a few months’ – please read on…
Our mother tongue is Hindi but unfortunately it becomes increasingly difficult to make any kind of progress – be it a career progress or a progress even in the relationship with the opposite gender; if you do not bring with you- the charisma of a hygienic English.  ‘Good English’ gives one the confidence of a notorious kind. Women with good vocabularies, feel all the more beautiful carrying themselves. Men, on the other hand- feel more powerful – when they speak ‘Fluent English’.  MACHO MEN!! ‘Ye to bada Toing hai type feeling   ‘
People, with good English skills – have 1) either been good readers in their school/ college days or 2) have had a great public schooling background.
The lesser mortals thus shall need to work it out- else very soon a strange feeling shall start creeping in their minds. A feeling of diffidence (kum mard type feeling)- which only grows with time. This shall be an unfortunate situation then.

Read very carefully next:-

No ‘English Guru’ book series/ English improvement Coaching classes etc are going to help you. All these are marketing gimmicks. ..They only help KAPIL DEV (Rapidex English Course..Remember!!)…Very few of them contain substance. To ab karein kyaa phir ?
Apne aap karnaa padegaa (Wo kehte hain naa – ki bina marey ; swarg ya narak nahin dikhta. Marnaa to padegaa hee’)
Whatever I tell you next ; you have to do for a minimum of 6 months. Why ?
A sexy Guitar – I got one on my b’day …& paid for the BEST Guitar classes in the city.
Three things I can do :-
The BEST thing : Be disciplined in the classes for 6-7 months and LEARN it out…(Pain involved)
2nd Best THING : I do not GO to the classes at all (even after paying the money). I accept it !!!
Worst THING : – I do not GO/ Go irregularly ; but keep on feeling GUILTY about ‘Not Going’…
Ditto for MOST other things in Life … ; including English improvement.
Take Strong, Firm Decisions and LEAVE the Guilt …
Mostly we fail ; ‘Kyunki hum beech mein chod dete hain’ . Karnaa hai ; to poora karo – warnaa chod do. (Kyunki shaadi POORI hoti Hai aur Bachche bhi paida POORE hote hain ) If you are READY to do it fully for the next 6 months– only then read ahead…

Your English improvement will take a minimum of 6 months. The graph will be something like below (even after you do all that I tell you to).
The sudden jump happens one fine day; and you don’t even realize that it has happened. You feel ‘WOW’ that day. It happened with me in Guitar classes too. I have seen it happening with thousands of people who improved their English; because they had the persistence to stay put and take the ‘impotent’ type feeling of the first 5 months. There is no other option but to be patient and to just ‘Lagey Raho’ ; if you want to be sitting at the 6 month height of the above graph.
 Karna kyaa hai ? :
Do these 3 things religiously for the next 6 months and that’s it:-
1) Get yourself disciplined to seeing / hearing a very good English News Channel for a minimum of 60-90 mins daily.
We learn the maximum from our environment. Don’t we?
It is very difficult to get better at anything; until we surround ourselves with people; who are better than us – at that thing. Let an NDTV / CNN IBN / Headlines Today etc keep on playing at your home / room / wherever. Even if you are working on your laptop on FB– you just switch on the TV and let them keep on speaking (the news readers) .
‘90 mins – TV chalnaa chahiye bas – khuch bhi ho jaaye’
What will begin to happen is – ‘You will begin to learn subliminally / inadvertently’. I mean ‘Pataa nahin chalegaa ; aur ho jaayegaa (jaise hindi movies mein pyaar hota hai)’
Researches in Multiple Intelligences / Experiential Learning have proven the above concept. Even the weakest of the guys have shown brilliant improvement in his Body Language/ Energy in Voice / Speaking confidence etc ; after 6 months of disciplined ‘English News Channeling’.
‘Karkey to dekho – jaadu hai ye. Dheere –dheere apne aap swaad aayegaa’.

  2) One hour of proper ‘Reading English’ is the next thing to be done. You may do it with a Newspaper or with a novel.
‘Jabardasti one hour lagao ! Khuch bhi ho jaaye – lagaana hai to bas lagaana hai’
Get stubborn that even if you understand less – ‘You will still Lagey Rahogay’.If you have not remained a good reader- ‘start with a book which is from your area of interest/ comfort zone’. Do 3-4 books from your interest areas and then shift to other areas. ‘Momentum banana hai bas’.
No newspaper is bad. Pick up any and just make sure that you do the Front page / Editorial page compulsorily. You may even do magazines / online journals etc. But keep it simple – ‘One hour shradha se English padhni hai ; to bas padhni hai’ .
You may not understand many Vocabulary words; while you do this. That’s fine- as long as you ‘Lagey raho’. Try and understand the meanings of those words in context; rather than going to a dictionary every time to know the meaning of each word that irritated. In the beginning –‘Bahut gandaa lagegaa.. Ye kyun kar raha hoon main? type feeling aayegi’ . Remember – ‘You are on the road to a stardom; if you do it for 6 months’.
Remember – you are a ROCKSTAR and if you still feel weak- do not forget the ‘R’ written behind your T-Shirt.

  3) Vocabulary is not very important to do separately; if you are doing the above two things. However, if you can do- ‘nothing like it’.
A lot of us start- do note down words here & there & then somewhere loose those notes. The trick is to snowball your effort by doing it at one place only. I recommend a big, fat, thick register- something you think is going to stay with you for a lot of time. It shall be your repository of words. Your- one point of contact for all your efforts in Vocabulary.
A register has a left hand page & a right hand page. On a single side –do not make notes of more than 2 or 3 words. I mean – give due respect to the words you are choosing to remember.
Tum WORDS Ko Izzat do,Who tumhe Izzat denge, aur time aane pe Doosron se dilwaayenge..:)
It is very important to maintain this register. You will never be able to remember it fine – if you do not write. In a way , you are making your own little dictionary in that register.
On any day – do not try to write/ learn more than 6-7 words (If you are doing 3-4; it is perfectly fine).
I strongly recommend that you take words only from the day’s newspapers. I would not recommend novels because they shall not provide fresh & contemporary associations for remembering. A newspaper would; on the contrary give a fresh example with the sentence- which is likely to get remembered e.g. <Australia is decimating India; down under>.
WHAT NEXT FOR VOCABULARY?
Start picking up words from the newspapers & start filling the registers. Next- when you choose a particular word- go to a good dictionary & transcribe / write all the meaningful stuff from the dictionary to the register.
Connect the word to people, places, events & things around you. Think – this word can get associated with whom? It is a patience game. Go slow. Enjoy your slowness. For fast acting relief- ‘Try slowing down’.  E.g. if you are doing a word e.g. ‘CORPULENT’ – it means fat. Link it up with a very fat person that you know e.g. Chadha aunty. The trick is to connect the new information with an old information that already exists in your mind. The same reason- why we ask for landmarks.
Then leave 4-5 lines blank. This has a purpose. Whenever you will revise this word- write a sentence / use that word in a sentence in that space. If you have used that word in 3-4 sentences after 3-4 revisions- it is likely that the particular word becomes a part of your active vocabulary.
IMPORTANT TO REVISE / FREQUENT:
Remember the first day of your college. Did you know all the people in your class? No- I guess. How is it – that you know , most of them now? This is because- you frequented them – met them again & again, noticed peculiarities about them. The same is the case with words- the more you meet them, the more they will be yours.
If you cannot do all this for Vocabulary ; then an easy thing to do would be to – press ‘LIKE’ on the‘Vocab Dhaba’ at FB. This is Asia’s biggest community on FB for Vocabulary / Grammar.

10 BEST WAYS TO BEAT THIS SUMMER

Scientifically, In summers the suns radiation penetrates through your cells and dries it up, it preaty much evaporates all the water, which is dehydration. Also during that moment, your body shuts down from releasing energy, also the radiation itself, pulls the remaining energy out of your body. Thus people gets more tired in the summers.
And because of this tiredness we can't give our absolute best and thus this causes under performance and under delivery, which is not tolerable by person like me. For me, the only reason to kill this summer is to give my best in studies and to live a healthy life.

So there are some useful tips that anyone can use to kill this heat :-

1. Take frequent baths or showers with cool or tepid water. At least twice a day.

2.Wear lightweight, light-coloured cotton clothes. Heat is trapped by synthetic fibres, but cotton absorbs perspiration and its evaporation causes you to feel cooler. The light colours reflect the sun's radiation.

3. Do yoga instead of gym and running because running will require more energy as compare to yoga.

4. Drink as much water (also nimbu paani or thandai ) as you can.

5.If you don't have air-conditioning, arrange to spend at least parts of the day in a public library or other         public space that is cool. Many cities have cooling centers that are open to the public on sweltering days.
I prefer to go to American Library which is fully air conditioned and fees is also very less.

6.Eat small meals and eat more often. The larger the meal, the more metabolic heat your body creates breaking down the food. Avoid foods that are high in protein, which increase metabolic heat.

7.Eat a lot of salads and fresh fruits that naturally contain water, like water melon – in fact this fruit contains nearly 92% water and up to 14% of vitamin C. This will add to the moisture content that you will lose through sweating. Small amounts of vitamin B and potassium are also found in this fruit.

8.Avoid eating oily food and especially avoid eating cut fruit from vendors as it may have been exposed to flies and dust.

9. Use Caps and Sunglasses.

10. Shave and proper hair cut.

I am very much sure that all these things will make you feel a live.

If you have any suggestions then please share.
